A recently completed Saturn project was published in the March issue of Dwell magazine in an article entitled “Project Runaway” The client, contributing Dwell editor Deborah Bishop, gives a thought provoking perspective on going through a building project in an organic and not-quite-so-planned manner. The Modern by Design Showhouse was published in the October 2009 issue of Metropolitan Home in an article entitled “Our Hearth in San Francisco”. See pics of our work on this project in our website portfolio entitled “Modern by Design” or visit the Met Home website.
We didn’t want to let any more time pass before noting that… this past summer founding team member and foreman, Tom Calvert, left us for his new job as stay-at-home-dad. Tom, his wife Kim, and 2 daughters moved to Santa Cruz County in August and have been enjoying fixing up their new home in the redwoods. See Tom’s work in portfolio projects entitled “Recycled Modern”, “Minimalist Retreat”, and “Mountain Vista”.

Saturn has been so busy building Bay Area homes and businesses that we have neglected to update our website with projects completed and events participated in during the last year! We’ve added a few of our completed building projects to our website portfolio and here are just a few things that have been brewing.
In September 2008, not only did Dave’s daughter, Coco, turn one, but Saturn built the Honey & Jam taste pavilion in collaboration with Geddes Ulinskas Architecture at the Slow Food Nation 2008 event at Fort Mason. Check out pics of this beautiful exhibit in our website portfolio entitled “Honey & Jam.
Saturn donated labor and direction to Orlando Diaz-Ascuy Design Associates and built a room in the Metropolitan Home Modern by Design Showhome. Metropolitan Home invited a handful of distinguished American designers to put a modern design, and ecological, spin on this newly renovated historic Pacific Heights home. A charitable event, the ‘Met Home’ opened for public viewing in June 2009. Photos of this event coming soon.
Coming up in September, a Saturn built home will be featured in the AIA 2009 San Francisco Living: Home Tours Weekend. Architect Bruce Wright of SB Architects designed this LEED certified modern home. Come meet members of the Saturn team, along with the architect, on September 12 & 13 at the ‘Alabama Residence’. Publication
In an article entitled “Perfect Harmony,” our recently completed Mill Valley project has been featured in the July 2008 issue of California Home+Design magazine. The house was designed by San Francisco architects Hepworth + Howard, and can also be seen in our website portfolio entitled “Recycled Modern”.
